Voxeo Acquires ClackPoint
Collaboration Company Bolsters Voxeo's Unified Communication and Unified Self-Service™ Offering, Marks Voxeo's Eighth Acquisition
Orlando, FL - January 20, 2010 --
Today Voxeo Corporation, the
leader in Unlocked Communications, announced it has acquired
ClackPoint, the leading real-time multi-media collaboration platform.
Over 100,000 people each month use ClackPoint's online voice, video
and text virtual conference rooms to connect and collaborate with
colleagues, friends, and social networks. Attendees can access
ClackPoint's virtual conference rooms using any telephone, SIP VoIP
device and service, Skype phone and IM clients, and ClackPoint's own
Flash-based phone and IM web client. Additionally, ClackPoint's easy
API enables developers and enterprises to add these capabilities to
new and existing applications. ClackPoint also provides pre-built
"widgets" that work with existing applications and platforms including
Google Wave.
Ted Schadler, Vice President and Principal Analyst, Forrester Research,
Inc., wrote in a recent report, "Web conferencing began life as a better
way to conduct sales meetings and training sessions. But its future is
much more interesting: to be a natural extension to the real-time
collaboration scenarios that today start and stop with voice and instant
messaging."[1]
"Until recently, online real-time collaboration was accessible only at
large companies and via stand-alone applications," said Jonathan
Taylor, Voxeo CEO. "ClackPoint makes it easy for anyone to start a
free, online, collaborative meeting--using any web site, application,
platform or service. The ClackPoint team and their technology are an
ideal match with our vision of Unlocked Communications."
Conferencing is a notoriously costly and cumbersome service. Most
consumers have no access to conferencing systems. Only 24% of
information workers have access to web conferencing today.
ClackPoint enables developers to offer their users simple, no-barrier-
to-entry ways to communicate across multiple channels including the
web, instant messaging and traditional telephones. Attendees can
access a single conference room using the same, different or a
combination of services.
ClackPoint is Voxeo's eighth acquisition in the last two years. The
acquisition builds on Voxeo's strategy to enable Unified Self-Service
and Unified Communications applications across voice, video, SMS,
USSD, IM and the mobile web, and aligns with Voxeo's May 2009
acquisition of IMified, the world's largest hosted instant messaging
application development and deployment platform.
Voxeo will continue to enhance and deliver the ClackPoint service.
Voxeo will also release new products and services based on ClackPoint
technology in 2010. To learn how to use ClackpPoint for free or to
embed ClackPoint conferencing in any website, mashup, or application
including Google Wave just visit the ClackPoint FAQ.
