About Tropo
Tropo is a cloud-based application platform that makes it easy for web developers to build voice applications using familiar languages such as JavaScript, Groovy, PHP, Ruby and Python. Tropo can be used to build nearly any communication application imaginable, including speech-driven Interactive Voice Response (IVR), VoIP solutions, voice mashups, instant messaging and SMS applications.
Tropo is built entirely on open standards including SIP, Java SIP Servlets, and the IETF's
Media Resource Control Protocol (MRCP). The cloud service is simple to deploy, requires no
contracts and no up-front setup costs and is powered by Voxeo - the largest and most reliable hosted communications platform in the world.
The Tropo service will be made available to developers for free under open-source licenses.
Additional Tropo components will allow developers to run their own Tropo applications in private clouds,
elastic computing services, or their own servers in conjunction with Voxeo's Prophecy platform.
